Bad weather is to be expected during swim lessons in Cache Valley. I will do my best to make those up as well, but again it may not be possible. Thank you!Parking information: Parking at Fife Swim Lessons in Cache Valley is limited. There is some parking available on the north side shoulder of the driveway leading up to the house. Pull all the way up the driveway to the circle drive then head back down the driveway and park on the north shoulder. Also, at the top of the circle driveway there are some spots available for parking. Additionally, there are parking options on the east side shoulder of 1600 East. Please, please be very cautious and aware of pedestrians. There is a lot of foot traffic all around the property before and after each swim session. Most of the pedestrians are little people who may be unaware of safety precautions and harder to observe from vehicles. There will be plenty of cars and people coming and going at the same time. Thank you in advance for your patience and curtesy.
Lesson Placement Guidelines
Swim Lessons Logan, Utah! Placing swimmers is the correct level is key for them to get the most out of their swimming lesson experience. PLEASE read over these placement guidelines and use the information available to help you know the best class for your child. You are also welcome to call me and I am happy to answer any of your placement questions. It’s also a great idea to take your child to a pool and ask them to show you these skills so you know the best placement for them before registration. Keep in mind that it is VERY common for a student to need to repeat a class multiple times in order to get these skills down. If your child has taken from me before I have a record of which class they should register for. If you are teetering on trying to decide between two levels it is best to put your child in the LOWER level so they can really solidify their skills for that class.
Level 1
Learning air/water exchange skills. Children will be taught how to blow bubbles and become confident in putting their face in the water. The class will also practice going under the water multiple times and develop basic floating abilities with teacher assistance. Students will work towards moving more freely in the water as well. I suggest a minimum age of three for this class, though children who are 2 1/2, toilet trained, and comfortable with separation may also join.
Level 2
The goal for this class is for students to be able to float, both on their front and back, for five seconds unassisted. Students must be able to comfortably put their faces in the water to register for this class. I recommend level two students be four years old or older.
Level 3
The goal for this class is for students to be able to glide across the pool, unassisted and without touching the bottom of the pool for the length of 17 feet. We will begin to incorporate correct kicking methods and underwater glides as well. Students will begin to practice these skills in the deep end of the pool with teacher assistance. Students should be at least five years old and 40 inches tall to handle the coordination needed for this class.
Level 4
Mastering the correct head position for breathing is essential for developing strong swimming skills. This class focuses on teaching swimmers proper side glide technique and effective breathing methods for the freestyle stroke. The class progresses to include arm movements and gradually integrates various components of the freestyle stroke. Students will also advance towards swimming more confidently and independently in deeper water.
Level 5,6,7
To participate in Levels Five, Six, and Seven, swimmers must demonstrate the ability to swim unassisted and confidently in the deep end of the pool. Participants have the flexibility to take these three levels in any sequence. The primary focus of each lesson will be on refining the strokes listed below. Additionally, a portion of the classes will cover techniques for treading water, diving, and for those who are prepared, flip turns.
– Level 5: Emphasizes Freestyle
– Level 6: Focuses on Backstroke
– Level 7: Centers on Breaststroke
INTRODUCTION TO WATER (6 months – 2 years old.)
